Contortion is more than just flexibility! Contortionists combine their bend, strength, control, and musicality to create mind-boggling choreography. In this workshop, students will begin to explore the elements of training contortion. We will stretch deeply, yes, and we will also begin to hone our balance, active flexibility, stabilization and fluidity of movement. This is a workshop open to anyone who has been flirting with the idea of training contortion, or who wants to bring elements of this beautiful art form into their performance on other apparatuses.

Erwan Choux
August 12th, 8pm
Erwan Choux is a French straps artist who started his circus journey when he was twelve. Every summer, he joined a street theatre association to create a show with his friends and tour it in Europe. When he was 15, he had to find a way to combine his circus passion with school, so he auditioned for l’Ecole Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault, the only European school that would give a BAC and a daily circus practice. After three years of training in handstand, acrobatics, theatre, dance and teeterboard in that school, Erwan decided to join the National Centre for Circus Arts in London to complete his training. He spent another three years learning straps and hand to hand. Today he is still as passionate as this twelve year old little boy and shares his passion for circus arts every time he teaches or takes the stage.
      Beginning 8/12 @ 8p                        Int/Adv 8/12 @ 1pm
